Speeds up tape and float
As a diy-er this banjo made my setting sheetrock tape go 5x faster! Make sure you have the mud very wet and set the knob to 3 or 4. Sure it is messy but does a great job. Keep scissors with you to cut the tape off and have a strong arm to hold this thing. When you get the hang of it the job will really go much faster.

Gets the job done
This works well if the mud is mixed a little on the thin side. It has held up for a couple months of almost daily use. Well made although the plastic part is a little thin.

Works very well, smaller than expected but still recommend
I recommend this to anyone who needs to tape a whole room or 2 but not for regular use. This was smaller than expected but works well, seems to do about 25 ft of tape before needing to refill. If you need to use regularly buy a larger one with a cutter instead, worth their price in time and effort saved. I disliked how the tape exit is hard to clean, but overall satisfied with performance for the price.

Not worth the trouble
Tried and tape kept binding and getting stuck in the machine, and then would pull the whole line of tape forward. I would then have to take the whole line of tape off and start again. Mud was thinned so not sure what the problem was. Gave up and just tapped normal with a knife. I wanted it to work, but this was creating more issues when it should make things easier, so I returned it.

Taping
Definitely one of the best tools like it available. I tried a metal one off the shelf at the home depot and it didn't measure up. The reel is smooth and doesn't jump around. The tool also allows you to run it out until there's no mud left. Great tool for a great price.

Excellent timesaver
I'm an experienced amateur and have done quite a lot of hanging drywall but not much finishing. This was my first experience with a banjo taper and after some trial and error this thing was a great timesaver. My two tips-- first, thin your mud! Mix the mud with some water to get an even consistency like pudding. If it's too thick you won't be able to pull the tape out.Second is pretty obvious, but just clean your tools carefully. The plastic is actually pretty easy to clean even when the mud is dry, but it's still a whole lot easier if you clean the tool immediately after you're finished.

Works well. Reloads often
It’s not the easiest thing to clean and it’s definitely not the highest quality, but for the price that’s not a problem. The only actual functional drawback I had with this was the amount of time I needed to spend reloading with mud. If you’re thinking about using this for the occasional remodeling taper it’s perfect for that but I’d recommended investing in a mud pump to help reload faster and cleaner. Definatley do not buy this if you’re a full time drywaller. Just bite the bullet and grab a big one. Your back will thank you.
