Great but not really for young kids. My son who's nearly 6 likes the pictures but some themes are adult and can't read it. It's not like Marvel or Pokemon guides which seemed to be more childcentric. Definitely for older fans, but still good for the pictures.

A good quality DK book with colourful illustrations and plenty of info on Superheroes, Supervillains, Teams (Justice League etc.) . The layout is attractive and busily packed with illustrations, 'Did you know?' text boxes and speech bubbles and it kept a 9 year old quiet for a 2 hour car journey. Because of it's layout you can dip in an out of any page or choose to read it cover to cover. The detail on each character/world etc. isn't extensive but it provided some discussion and interest in the characters he didn't already know. I notice that some reviewers have said it's not for 'serious fans' but it's aimed at children and as such it's a really good introduction to characters they know already but also ones they've yet to 'meet'. My faves (Deadman, Zatanna etc.) were all there so I was happy :)

As the Comic Book Superhero universe expands exponentially through the medium of film, this book provides a handy round up of those heroes and villains that people the DC comic canon. It's brightly illustrated, and provides little more than thumbnail sketch introductions to the vivid cast of characters, with interesting little factoids thrown in for good measure. As other reviewers have stated, its' really aimed at youngsters, and as such fulfils its remit admirably, although I am familiar with the characters, I did learn a thing or two just browsing through the book. It would make a good gift for a birthday or Christmas stocking filler.
