Bruner-Ivory 823-21 48" Long Single Bent Shovel Handle

Bought several handles and replaced the handles of all of my 15 year old shovels. The quality of the handles is great. The wood and the finish is very nice. The curvature is just right. However, there are two aspects of replacement that will consume some time and will test your patience. First removal of the old rotted wood from your old shovel is a process that will test your patience. It is essential to bore out the old rivet by filing off the head followed by a lot of banging. Second, the rivet that is provided requires a "punch" to flatten out, and then some hammering. You will also need a drill for a new hole in the new handle for the rivet to pass through. Better to repair an old shovel than throw it in the garbage - you will get good Karma.

I was glad to find a bent handle for my Aluminum shovel. Hardware stores do not seem to want to carry them anymore. It is a shame to toss a perfectly good shovel?

I got this handle to replace the handle on a craftsman spade shovel. This was a a rather direct swap. The hardest part of the job was removing the old broken handle. I used an angle grinder to remove the old rivets. Seems like a quality handle.

The handle was supposedly made in America and seems like good quality but sticker says made in China so we'll see. Can't even get a piece of wood made in America?

I have a 25 year old shovel and while working the other day, the original handle broke. I bought this replacement one on Amazon and it fit perfectly. It came with two rivets, although mine only called for one, and it had the bent end like the original to fit the shovel head neck. I punched out the old handle piece still stuck in the shovel head neck out from the head backwards towards where the handle would be. This one slipped right in and with a couple of poundings of the head on the ground while holding the handle, it seated in the shovel head neck perfectly. Drilled the hole through the shovel neck holes using a 13/64" drill bit , through the handle and slipped in the rivet. A couple of whacks with a ball-peen hammer on the concave rivet end while resting the head of the rivet on my vice and it was set. Looks, feels great. I've added some photos of what the handle looks like when it arrives and installed on my old shovel head.

Excellent shovel handle for my two flat tip shovels that have been around for years. Only took a few minutes to remove the old rotted handle and replace it with these handles for great results.

This is a fine American made handle. I wasn't 100% sure if I was purchasing the exact handle I needed, but it was (somebody may wish to change the web page info so that the picture matches the description more ). I was looking for a pointed shovel replacement handle that has the bend in the wood down by the shovel end. This was it. It doesn't say on the label, but I think the wood is ash. This is a good piece of ash. Straight grain, no knots. It has a lacquer finish, which I don't like, but ...
