Taking cooking back to the basics!
Store bought pasta is cheap and easy to come by, but nothing off the shelf comes close to the taste of homemade noodles. I wanted a low cost, "no drama" pasta machine that was fun AND easy to use. I read dozens of reviews that kept me from taking the step of actually buying a pasta machine for myself. Finally, I came across this machine with no reviews and a nice price. It looked simple, basic and streamlined with a stainless steel body. I figured it was finally worth a try.My pasta machine came nicely packaged with a very straight-forward instruction booklet. I examined every part of it carefully as I read through the booklet. I had to do some simple assembly. No problems there. The first step was to clean the machine thoroughly to remove any oil residue from the machining process. I took my time to carefully clean every part of the machine that I could reach. I then attached it to my counter. I don't actually have enough overhang on my counter to make a good strong attachment, but I was able to overcome that by opening my drawer, attaching the c-clamp inside the drawer and then closing the drawer. It didn't close all the way, but it's enough to keep my "mess" out of the drawer and the pasta machine is secure on the counter.I then made a half-batch of pasta with 1 cup of flour and one egg and enough water to make it stick together into a ball. I used this dough to complete the cleaning process and to learn how to operate the pasta machine. I made sheets of pasta over and over again and then I made fettuccine noodles and angel hair. The purpose here was to learn the machine and remove any burrs left over from manufacturing. There were definitely some burrs that came loose in the first few run-throughs of the dough, but not all that many and I felt confident by the end that all of them had been worked out of the cutters. Several reviewers had mentioned the liberal use of flour while working the dough and that really helped smooth out the process. When I was done working with this dough, I threw it all out and then re-cleaned the machine carefully using a pastry brush and a little more flour. My new pasta machine works great! I can now make my own noodles and angel hair and I also plan to use the sheet rollers to make some flat breads like pitas and matza. It doesn't take long to make up enough noodles for supper and basic noodles taste great fresh with all kinds of sauces and veggies. I couldn't find a single thing about this machine to complain about. I only wish that I had done this sooner. Oh well...back to pasta!

Excellent Angel Hair Attachment
One of my better Amazon purchases! I got the angel hair attachment and it fit both my Marcato Atlas 150 and Cucina Pro hand-crank machines, which was a huge win. The angel hair attachment cuts pasta in very delicate 1mm strips, which is actually the same size as Marcato's $40+(!) capellini attachment. I found that the pasta came out the best when I used lots of flour on the dough sheets before running through the machine, which helped to prevent the super fine cuts from sticking together. Overall, this is a very simple device that works exactly how it should, AND is affordable. Great product!

Wish I had time to make pasta from scratch every time.
Works great. Would have given it 5 stars but the handle tends to fall off fairly easy. Used the basic pasta dough recipe to first clean it then discarded that. It was good practice. Used the traditional pasta dough recipe with the fettuccine attachment. It was awesome. Wish I had time to make it from scratch every time!

Does the job, just not well.
The attachment used to keep it locked to a counter/table top feels very flimsy and very narrow in options on how to use. I always had to rig it up in weird angles just to get it secured down. Would not recommend.

Good option to speed up processing
I purchased this to use with the Westin (formerly Roma) Tomato Press/Sauce Maker. After processing 150+lbs of tomatoes last year by hand crank, I wanted to step up to something that was easier on the arm, while also more consistent and faster in the process. The complete setup isn't as 'elegant' as a press with a built-in motor, but it works if already have the manual press. Definitely have to anchor the press with the clamp, as the vacuum cup wouldn't hold as well with the added off-center weight of the motor. The motor itself is solid and seems to have a good bit of torque, so it should handle everything I normally put through the press. The cover is plastic, as the one product sort of shows, but is definitely not the polished metal as shown in one of the other photos. Makes no difference to me, but just want to put that out there. Once attached and the press secured, no problems using it for the duration. The 2 speeds and the pulse button give plenty of options during use.The only down side I see so far is having to be careful not to splash the motor. The housing is solid and shouldn't let anything in, but the fins in the oblong edge I could see as being difficult to clean. Considering it's an electric motor, I wouldn't want to chance submerging it under water. One thing I will clarify, this is the one to get for the Westin/Roma Tomato Press. I had previously bought another brand that looks 98% the same (and a few $ cheaper), but it didn't include the mounting brackets and instead had T-pins to latch onto that brand's machines.Update Aug 2024: I've been using this on my tomato press for several seasons now and it continues chugging along with no issues. I've since learned to not splash sauce on the motor, so I don't need to do much cleaning of it other than a quick wipe. So for that, I've giving back the star for a full 5.

Works great, makes making your own pasta easy!
Very easy to use, once you get the knack. I'd never used one of these before, so it's taken a few tries to get good at it. Now I'm a whiz! Love making my own pasta!! I don't even bother to use the clamp to attach it to my counter/table while using any more, now that I've got the procedure down, that's just not necessary. I also dropped the crank many times the first couple of times I used it, but that doesn't happen any more either. Negative reviews seem to be from people who didn't give it a chance - there's nothing wrong with the machine, it's just that they didn't have a good technique. I use this for gluten-free pasta, so it takes even more skill, which took time to learn. LOVE this machine now - seriously considering the lasagna and ravioli attachments, and will add to this review later if I buy those.Edited 8/17/2021 to add: have not purchased any attachments, because it's just so perfect as is! Still loving it and using it often.
