Very well organized with a tremendous amount of information.
I have several hundred gardening books and this is one of the better ones I have seen. I only wish my books on other gardening topics were as good. It covers a lot of tropical ferns which I appreciate since I live in the tropics. I also have Encyclopedia of Ferns by David Jones which is also well worth having but I would rate this one as being a bit better. The book is very thorough and well organized. The photos are excellent. If you have an interest in ferns or plants in general then add this book to your library. I bought an ex-library copy that was in new condition. Why a library would get rid of a book whose information is 100% current is completely beyond me. It appears that some libraries are very wasteful with their funds.

Encyclopedia of Garden Ferns
We recently put in a fern garden at our house and now are enjoying fabulous reference material in this book. It is filled with color photographs and detailed information about identifying and growing garden ferns. No one should be without this book, whether they be gardeners or nature enthusiasts who enjoy being able to identify the wild things they see around them. As a matter of fact, we had a wild fern coming up on our property and with the help of this book, we were finally able to identify it. Sure, we can all find information on the web about ferns or just about any other topic, but there is really nothing that can compare to actually holding such a treasure of a book in your hands. Don't hesitate to buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

High quality book in all aspects
This is a thorough and well-written publication which should appeal to anyone interested in ferns. Numerous fine photographs can be beneficial in confirming identification in conjunction with the text included with each entry. The book itself is finely constructed and printed on durable, smooth finished paper of excellent weight and brightness. There are many helpful entries providing guidance for finding ferns in nurseries, parks and gardens. This book should be included in any library used by horticulturists at any level. It would likewise make an exceptional gift.

Every fern you ever wanted to know about
A really thick book with every possible fern featured. Purchased for Mother with Alzheimer's as she just hardly reads anymore. I wanted something with lots of pictures for her to flip through. This book was perfect. It book also will be an aid when I start landscaping the yard.

Fern Encyclopedia
I received this book for Christmas from a friend. I found it to be such a great reference that I purchased for her for her birthday. Needless to say, she is as thrilled with it as I am. Excellent color photography and covers most ferns that even the more ardent fern collector might wish to learn about. If I had to chose 1 from my 5-6 fern books, this would be it.

Beautiful, tutorial and practical
I ordered this book as an addition to my 'library' after checking out a copy at my local library. I am planning a fern garden and this book is both extremely helpful as an instruction and planning aid, and so beautifully photographed and compiled that it inspires me and keeps my enthusiasm high.

Fabulous!
This book is a well written, substantial piece of work with hundreds of photos. It would be good if a measurement could also be added to the photo text as it is hard to get a sense of scale.

Fernattic
A worthy tome but it did have a minor error when listing one particular cultivar, the problem is it's a very wordy subject and it's very easy to forget what you are talking about a proof reader could not spot this because they would need to know their subject very well.If you know naff all about ferns its worth purchasing, Sue Olsen knows her subject.
