Memorex 6142U Flatbed Scanner

scanner works very good . I wish I could turn it off so it won't come on every time I turn on the computer. I just unplug the scanner so It won't com on.

After shipping, this antiquated doorstop cost just $7 less than a brand new model. True I wanted a dedicated scanner, not an all in one machine that rakes money out of your pocket with absurd printer cartridge replacement costs, but I also learned my lesson and won't make this mistake again.

Gosh...I have upgraded my computer countless times, and upgraded my monitor 3 or more times (from CRT to small LCD to larger LCD) etc.....this scanner of 10 + year old is still going and going and going.....when is this scanner going to break so I can upgrade... lol....own this scanner since the late 90s or leary 21st century...(around 1999-2001 I think...during the time I was living in a different town, I have moved 4x since them....)color is fine. scan at 600 DPI is fine....almost always connected to power and I am surprised that lamp in it is NOT broken yet......I wanted to upgrade..but don't want to throw out something still working... lol......

I bought this scanner so long ago (1997?). I have used it to scan old photos, wedding photos, documents, books, and just about anything that will fit on the glass of the scanner. It has never disappointed me and is still running after 12 years.I just upgraded my computer to Vista 64-bit version and was unable to get the scanner to work since Memorex has stopped updating the driver. However, I eventually found a work around and now I am going to have another 3-5 years with this awesome scanner.

you can get drivers for this for vista but they are frankly terrible everything comes out looking striped and grainy.
