The perfect gift.
I bought this for my 7 year old Granddaughter on her birthday. Her response was to jump up and down whilst screaming with delight. To say that it is aimed at children the response from the adults was equally astounding. Before long adults were wiping skin cells from inside their mouths, drawing blood to watch it congeal on the slide and slicing off onion skins. So much for the reaction. The microscope is well made and far better constructed than any toy that you might expect. The optics appear to be Chinese cloned plastic lenses that are very clear and give an excellent image at all magnifications. The smart phone adapter allows you to either view through the eyepiece, or take images. This is a very good thing to have when several children all want to look at once (or adults). In short this is the perfect gift for anyone interested in looking at very small objects through a microscope. It will open up a whole new World for the viewer and will fill the 'show and tell' sessions at school for years to come.

Easy to use with Phone Camera
The reason I chose this microscope over others was because it seemed simple to use with a phone for photos and to view the slide together as a family using the device. It has hit the mark well. Phone sizes can be regular or plus.It has decent magnification and what I like is that it holds its focus and isn’t easily knocked off. This is also quite solid despite being plastic so as it has survived Christmas I reckon it should last a few more years. It’s battery powered and not mains but in my opinion that is a good thing.I bought slides separately to get him started and we hope to make our own soon. Looking at pixels from another camera has given quite a bit of entertainment too. It’s early days still but this has been good for a curious primary school child.

Microscope
Very pleased with the microscope, our son loved it and we have managed to see several things and taking some videos of blood. With time you get used to get a better image of the slides. Here there are some examples of what can you see. If you want to see properly the blood cells you need a little drop of blood and to add a drop of sterile saline solution and cover it with a cover slip. The first four are an eyelash, the second onion skin, the third synthetic fibres from inside a coat and a video of blood.

Nifty little microscope for all your basic needs
The photos attached are of the two included prepared slides and show the closest and farthest magnification options. Captured using the phone-camera mount that comes with the microscope on an iPhone 8.The body is a much more plastic than I would have liked and would have preferred more metal work. The phone grip is fiddly and even when positioned perfect doesn't get the full view you could get by looking with your eyes and not a camera. The kit includes a booklet with basic information, some small jars for collecting samples as well as about 10 empty slides ready to use. Not too many but slides and covers are easy enough to buy individually. The two prepared slides leave a lot to be desired with the glue obscuring the view at times and making everything quite cluttered. The microscope itself is lightweight and battery powered with two lights, one below a sample and another above the sample so you can see through somewhat transparent objects and the top of opaque objects. The lower light also has a range of coloured filters to change the light hitting the slide as well as a pinhole option for more directed light. No such options exist for the upper light.Perfect if you or a child you know could use a beginner microscope to explore the world around them.

Excellent product and Smartphone viewer a great addition!
I searched through reviews on amazon to find a microscope for a 6yr old boy with an interest in science. This ended up being a perfect choice! The microscope is easy to use, magnifies well and the smart phone attachment is surprisingly good (actually the highlight of using it!).There are three pre-made glass slides and a few blank slides with instructions on how to make temporary or permanent ones. For age 6 this does need adult supervision due to the delicate nature of the product and the glass slides which have sharpish edges. The packaging is good, and it is easy to keep this stored safely in the box.

Perfect for KS3 & GCSE level
Our 12 year old daughter is really impressed with this microscope and says that it's so much better and clearer than what they use in her high school. So for the price, great buy! :-)

Great team fun.
The possibility of attaching a camera makes it so much more fun to explore a microscope with your kids/in groups. For school use this could be extra cool if hooked up via AirPlay to a large screen. It’s fiddly but it works. The microscope itself is OK value but I’d buy a metal version of this even if it was twice the price. Really has a plasticy feel.I’d add an extra star if it came in a box that was practical for storing it with all its pieces.

Pretty plastic. Just a child's toy. Need to pay more to get a proper magnification.
Pretty plastic. Just a child's toy. Need to pay more to get a proper magnification.Although if you have many children the iPhone display is useful to show them all at the same time what you see.
