Prepworks by Progressive Ratchet Can Opener (Original Model)

When I stumbled across this can opener, I was sorry I didn't buy a 'life time' supply - I am 73 years old. I searched for almost a year, in stores, on the internet, asked friends. Finally, one day searching on Amazon I found a 'newer' version but also noticed a listing for the 'older' version which I had been searching for. YES!!! They had five in stock. I quickly bought 3 - I didn't want to take them all - I figured with the one I had and 3 more that would last me a life time. I never figured bragging about it and showing my friends, I might have to give up one - to a friend who has arthritis. This 'rachet' can opener is so easy to use, so easy on the hands, and a no brainer to open any can. Try it, you'll LOVE it.

This can opener is a piece of sh**! Didn't even work the very first time I tried using it! It just slides around the can without even getting close to opening it, and destroys the outside lip of the can in the process. I've tried different angles, more pressure, you name it; it just doesn't work. Save yourself the hassle and just don't buy this thing

Great can opener! This was a replacement for one of the original ones that we had for years. It is just the same and really works well. It is the best non electric can opener that we have ever had! So easy to use and to clean also!

I liked the Rachel part, as used off the grid for camp, how ever only used maybe 3 times and then quit working. Very disappointed

Have RA. Traditional can openers no longer work. Only complaint, seems like the cutter is to short for some cans. Other cans, it works wonderful. The ratchet feature is great. They need to test on different types of cans.

I have trouble with traditional can openers - thumb pain. This can opener solves the thumb stress with a ratchet mechanism. locks on to most size cans easily, while I noticed that I have to tilt the can opener inwards to get it to hook on to small diameter cans (i.e. tomato paste cans). I have had it for a month or so and it is so functional I don't have apprehension now when opening cans. I can't speak to its durability as it is still relatively new to me. However, I am very happy with my purchase.

Easy to use and not much mess. This is my second one. Ratchet part became stripped after 2-3 years.
