The Big Kalimba Songbook: 100+ Songs for kalimba in C (10 and 17 key)

I'm a big fan of all Thomas Balinger song books. I play several instruments and my library is stocked with any and all of Mr. Balinger's books for my instruments. This includes his books for Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, ukulele, autoharp, tin whistle ... and now one for my brand new kalimba. As with the other books, this kalimba book provides an excellent introduction to the instrument and offers a large selection of campfire and other songs to get the new player started. The print is clear and easy to read. I only have good things to say about it. As soon as my husband presented me with a new kalimba for Christmas, I quickly checked Amazon to see if Mr. Balinger published a book for it. So thrilled that he did!

Great tutorial

This book has so many songs to kearn on your kalimba. Some more popular than others, this book will keep you busy. There are some songs that were a bit tough for me as a beginner, but overall a great buy.

Great book

It has what I was looking for... staff music with song lyrics so you can keep up with (figure out?) the note values... simplified. I'm using it to learn how to play tunes (other than ,"Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star") on a C Major Tongue Drum. I added names of the notes to the numbers on the drum with the help of a tuner. I don't know enough about music to convert the music to D Major. Buyer beware! Half these less expensive drums come in D Major instead of C, but all the music provided is in C Major, as best I can determine. I want to learn to play, "The Sound of Silence". In the whole song it has one B flat! No other Bs. They say on Youtube you can tune your drum with magnets. I ordered the magnets so maybe I can make the B note flat for that one piece? Wish me luck.

Jingle Bells is the perfect example. The music shows you the way through verse 1 & chorus, after that it just repeats itself for the rest of the song which is not accurate at all. Other than that, it's good for beginners or small children to go through.

You get a large collection of old tunes. Perfect for beginners with easy to read directions. You don't have to know how to read sheet music at all to use this book. I'd recommend it to beginner Kalimba players as a good starting point.

I love this book of kalimba songs! It’s so relaxing and fun to play 💕 there are a ton of songs in here, some I don’t know and play on YouTube to find out how they sound.I’ve seen some weird comments About how people should pick these songs out by ear and all sorts of things, but not only does this give me ideas for things to play, I also don’t want to find the notes for every song. That’s why sheet music is there, so it’s more relaxing and fun!And the kalimba is all about fun 🥰💃🏼Some people said the songs in this book are old, I know a lot of them and it’s fun to learn new songs. These are good sing-along songs. A lot of these are songs that we play at our strumming circle and with them in kalimba tab and the notes, I’m pretty sure they could be played on other instruments like the recorder or finger picked out on a stringed instrument 🎸 or keyboard 🎹 add some chords and make a song 🎶Hey, stuck in lockdown with a hundred songs, might as well make the most of it!

Just what I wanted. Good explanation of how to read different types of Kalimba notation. Great old songs- haven’t played the Minstrel Boy since I had an accordion from a junk shop 60 years ago! Hours of fun!

Sehr schön lesbar für Kalimba Anfänger mit Zahlen, Noten, Texten nebeneinander. Leider ist hier in der Beschreibung kein Hinweis, dass die meisten Lieder Country Folk Songs sind, daher "out-dated" und nichts Modernes dabei.
