We got these and gave them to our hvac tech.... he told us that these were the best in the market and he was surprised we got them at this price. Well worth the investment.

I am confident that these dampers are highly functional in the proper instance. Unfortunately for me, our application wasn't suited so, rather than return them, I donated them to our local Habitat for Humanity where I am certain they will be used.

These were easy to install. They were perfect and sturdy. Definitely would re-order if I need more.

I bought and installed 8 of this in a rancher built in 1956. The original ones were made with flimsy plastic and the butterflies were mostly broken. This one is made with all solid metal and should last forever. Caution: It is pretty heavy and would make the installation a bit difficult if the ceiling hole does not have enough plaster to hold the screws. I also question the need to open and close the butterflies. The damper is designed to be closed during heating, and open when the AC cool air comes down from the air handler in the attic. What would it hurt to keep the dampers open? (since the air handler will block the warm air anyway.)

It seems to be made durable enough, but gave it only 3 stars because it doesn't live up to a very important part of it's description:"To determine the correct size to order, measure the size of the duct opening (not the old vent itself)."My ducts are 8" and I ordered the way the seller stated to. The problem is that my current Diffusers do not attach to the damper, but to the actual ceiling. The only way this would work as described is if I were to rip out my current dampers and purchase the ones that fit this diffuser and I can't see doing that. It is needless, messy, and costly.****PLEASE NOTE****If your current dampers do not have screw mounting to attach a diffuser, these will not work.
