MECOCorp 1040.8.001 Americana Ash Pan

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the pictures, but was definitely very impressed with the quality and durability of this product, its very thick, more heavy gage metal than the original one that came with the grill..!! I do a lot of grilling and I feel that I won’t have to purchase again because of the quality but will if needed and it fits perfectly..

Better heavy duty than the original

After years of use, my old ash pan became more like a sift leaving me to periodically turn the whole grill over to get the ash removed. The old pan also became warped or easily sprang into a tilted position. After a few uses the new pan is still in great shape. Image shows the new pan as a perfect replacement. Keep in mind: wet ash deteriorates these pans quicker than normal. I always dump the ash pan the following day, brush out any debris and keep the grill in a dry place. I prefer charcoal so much over propane too. I noticed my $50 Aussie Grill is no longer that cheap (price of metal I am sure), so this being the only thing getting wear and tear, I figured it to be a worthy investment to get another roughly 5 years out of the ol Aussie Grill. No regrets in this purchase.

So far so good. Attached is a photo after my 1st us and cleaning. Notice no chipping or flaking of the metal. My original manufacture supplied pan did start flaking right away, lasted only one Bbq season.

Quality product

Really nice ash tray that lasts for several years. I’ve been using mine now for three years and it’s beginning to show wear.

I’ve had my grill for 4 years. Though the outside is doing great, the wire grill and ash pan deteriorated due to my neglect. I was surprised at the expense to replace these. The price for an ash pan replacement was running around $65 (U.S.). Finally, I found this one which seemed to be a better value (though still spendy). What I received put me at ease. The ash pan was made of fire treated steel (not aluminum) and far superior to the stock pan that originally came with my grill. It’s constructed very well and fits perfectly. I see the value here and it really pays to take care of your grill parts. Thankfully this replacement is better made than the original stock part …lesson learned and very thankful to find this.
