Puma SGB Bowie Jacaranda Wood Hunting Knife with Tethered Brown Leather Sheath

This knife is beautiful. Mine came sharp enough to shave hair from my arm. The fit and finish are beautiful, the brass is bright, the rivets in the handle are flush. The knife is slightly longer than a Buck 119 and the blade width is just a little more. The shape of the guard lends itself well to choking up on the handle with the thumb on the spine for detail work without the fingers being in danger of slipping forward onto the edge. When you think Bowie Knife you think of a big knife, I wouldn't call this knife big. It was smaller and more elegant than I expected. I think it will make a very nice sized hunting and fishing knife. The only down side at all is the sheath. It's nylon and leather and it is very stiff. It isn't a cheaply made sheath at all, very sturdy and seems like it will take some abuse to get it broken in right. I would have been much happier with a full leather sheath, but who can complain for this price. Also, Puma sells a leather sheath for this knife on their website for $20 if it matters to you much, even if you "have" to buy a $20 sheath this is a great price from eCop!

Great knife however the handle is small to me, not length wise but width and depth. If this had a slightly wider/deeper handle it would be fantastic.Good product for the price in general

Got my new PUMA SGB today, It is spot on for workmanship. Sharp enough to shave hair off of my arm, The sheath is the fabric sheath. Stiff and strong, well made. I can tell I am going to enjoy this knife for a very long time. The wooden handle is smooth and well finished. No rough spots, Wood to metal fit is excellent.This blade exudes quality of the highest order. It has the point mark of the hardness test on the right side near the finger guard. Aside from being a thing of beauty ,it balances well in the hand

I own the German made Puma and I compared the two in quality , edge holding , ergonomics and steel. While the German Puma held an edge longer and is made with better materials. The SGB has better ergonomics due to fact it’s handle is a bit different. The sheath on SGB really kinda sucks so that’s why I deducted one star, the leather sheath on the German Puma is excellent. So in conclusion both knives are worth the price.

Good knife, but probably a factory second. I plan to actually use the knife so not a big deal for me. It was a good deal for $40.

The blade is not sharp out of the box and the sheath is terrible, it is angled compared to the knife where the blade begins, knife does not sit well in sheath, moves all over the place.

Piece of steel was bent and scales attached anyway instead of rejecting. Product was not advertised as "seconds" Expected more from PUMA
