Numbers are not accurate; Not good for teaching braille
The numbers across the bottom are inaccurate. In order for them to read as numbers, the dots for J/0 must be in front of each number. Otherwise the bottom just reads J A B C etc...Not the best tool for teaching braille with that inaccuracy, and how low the raised dots are, but I just bought it as a decoration for my desk at work, where I process and transcribe braille material, so for that it works just fine.

Dots are too flat and hard to feel.
The dots on this board are very flat, which makes them hard to feel. This is my first braille board, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to be like, but this was very difficult to try and learn on.

Strange smell
The wood smelled really strange.

Not big enough or deep enough
This is way too small for an adult. It also is, like many others said, not designed by a blind person. Everything needs to be larger with more space between each item. And it needs higher relief; more depth. I doubt that my newly blind husband can use this to learn Braille. I would see this more as a decorative item. Or for children to learn.

Has a very bad smell
Product had such a bad smell. I had to repeatedly scrub this everyday for weeks. It still smells but not as bad

Planning for the future
My mom lost her eyesight due to macular degeneration. I have that now so don’t want to be unable to read something if I want too. So I’m teaching myself braille. I have gotten several items from Amazon including kids braille books, a stylus, and have found another source in Canada for other braille items but this wood board was my first purchase and I use it daily to test my memory of the alphabet. One thing I learned about braille. You write right to left so the bumps are in the correct order for reading left to right. Good skill for kids to learn too. Recommend
