A great overall book for best health
I've been following the Whole Foods, Plant Based lifestyle doctors for a few months now. I ran across a podcast of Dr. and Mrs. Ornish recently and loved what I heard. This prompted me to buy the book. I have to say now that the WFPB lifestyle has been tremendous in reversing and healing issues I've had for years.The book is packed with great information on eating, moving, de-stressing, and loving. Plain and simple advice for living a healthy life. Lots of great recipes, too. There is a lot of scientific information and studies presented that really backs up this lifestyle.The only issue I have is that the book continuously promotes their program. This would be a bad thing, but there are no venues anywhere close to where I live (mid-north Tennessee). Insurance may cover their program, but I doubt my insurance will pay for me to travel somewhere distant to take it. With it promoting the benefits of the program, I feel I am missing out; that I'm only getting partial information since I can't participate in the program. Especially with the group benefits. And, there wasn't any contact information on their site for those of us wanting to ask questions about it; only for booking.While I love the book, I think I would prefer less promoting of the program and keep the book to what you can do from the book.

A new approach to holistic health with some ancient wisdom.
This book is a summary of more than 40 years of experience helping people improve their physical and mental health, with some relationship tips. I highly recommend it. My favorite part is the practical tips on communication, because if you want to adopt all of these practices, chances are you will have some explaining to do to people around you. This might seem uncomfortable, but considering the great health results they have seen with them, it will be worth it. Something tells me even if you just improve on one of the four methodologies, it will be worth the price of the book. Improve on all four methodologies and it might change your life. They even offer online support groups and the book explains the Ornish program is even covered by some insurance companies, which doesn’t leave many excuses to not try it.

Great book to help you positively change your life but needs better recipes
This book has helped change my life. By following its advice, especially the dietary recommendations, I’ve already relieved myself of knee pain and general inflammation in my body. Last year my cholesterol was high and I’ve been prediabetic for at least four years. After 4 weeks of a vegan diet with minimal added walking, my cholesterol has gone from 210 to 153 and my A1c from 6 to 5.4. And after 6 weeks, I’ve lost 14 pounds and feel like a new person with much more energy.The four basic tenets of the book make sense and are uplifting, and I enjoy reading the science behind the recommendations in the book. However, I find the recipes to be disappointing and to rely too much on soy products. I’m still looking for a good whole foods cookbook to help support me in my new vegan endeavor.

A Sensible Approach to Eating and Living that Keeps the Body Healthy
I heard about this book through Opray's Super Soul Sunday when I watched an interview with the authors. I'd had some health stuff for the past 2 years and was fed up with doctors wanting to pile on different medications when the others didn't work but never looked at the root cause of the issues. I said to heck with it and began searching for nature's alternatives earlier this year, which by the way, ARE working! One of the authors of this book is an M.D., so it isn't some crackpot extolling the virtues of healthy eating. There is scientific research and proof to back up what the authors share about how the right eating/living lifestyle can reverse things like heart disease, diabetes and other ailments plaguing so many people in the US. I made a change to go more plant based in my eating. Basically, cutting out meat (still eating fish) and adding supplements like Fish Oil (healthy Omega 3's) and Turmeric to my daily routine. In just over 40-days, the results are amazing. I began feeling better in the first couple of days. I'm incredibly thankful for this book. I had no idea that eating meat - even healthy organic meat - was causing the same problems for me that doctors wanted to fix with medicine but couldn't. Buy the book. You can thank me and Oprah later :)

Same ole stuff!
This item was recommended by my cardiologist, so I thought it was worth the read. What a waste of money! It didn’t teach me anything new or tell me anything different. It basically said eat right, less stress, exercise, and get some sleep. We already all know that stuff. Wouldn’t waste my money on this book, Do not recommend it to anyone.

Informative read! Highly recommend!
I follow the older Dean Ornish books and eating his original low-fat diet according to those books. This book is just a refresher with some updated information. Highly recommend it for the Ornish library.
